In the “Cretan – Zeus Park” – Meet the whole of Crete (VIDEO)

 

Below the imposing peak of Psiloritis mount, in the village of Vorizia of Heraklion, is the newest and one of the most interesting places of the island. In an area of 500 acres, two Cretans, established the so called “Cretan - Zeus Park”, which is the largest theme park on the island.

Keeping  unchanged the region's physiognomy and respecting the flora of the mountain they revive the way in which their ancestors lived and created. "Here you feel, that you inhale and taste your nature and history," say the idea's initiators.

Τhe visitor’s tour begins from a great gallery of history, where through frescoes, he has the chance to watch the evolution of society from the Minoan period to today.

At its exit, there is a natural lake, consisting a rare wetland, and a botanical park that functions as a research area. The visitor there can know the thousands of herbs that exist as well as their properties.

Going forward the visitor reaches the sacred peak of the park with the “mitato” which is the shepherd's shelter. There, he can relax, rest and taste many traditional products while enjoying the incredible views.

Then he gets to the nature park, a wildlife sanctuary with hawks, bearded vultures and an amazing forest of lilies while at the exit, there is a traditional restaurant serving cretan dishes made with high quality raw materials.
