The city of Heraklion

Heraklion or Chandakas, as you might encounter it in older historical book, is the capital of Crete, with a population of over 250.000 inhabitants. Heraklion has the second largest airport in Greece, with daily flights to and from all over the world throughout the year .

It also has the second largest harbor of the country, with daily sailings from and to the port of Peraeus, as well as other magical islands of the Aegean sea.  It has nothing to jealous of what a big city offers, as life in it is flowing with intense rhythms fully integrated into the modern times.

Αctually, the  magic of this city lies in the fact that while it is so modern it keeps its picturesque character, something that the visitor finds out by exploring it through paved streets of the past times.

At this point it is worth mentioning the magnificent exhibits of the Minoan civilization in the archaeological museum, which is in the center of the city and is open all the year round, as well as many monuments, like the tomb of Kazantzakis, which the visitor can admire.

Here, the traditional one coexists with the modern and the picturesque. Heraklion, is full of shops that sell everything, for all tastes. There are also many restaurants with traditional flavors, or with flavors from various cuisines of the world that will amaze you. Ιn this city, the past meets the present and the future giving  you the opportunity to experience them.
